Google Earth 是一款由Google公司開發的在Windows 2000以及XP上的虛擬地球儀軟件， 它把衛星照片、航空照相和GIS布置在一個地球的三維模型上。

Google Earth使用了公共領域的圖片、受許可的航空照相圖片、KeyHole間諜衛星的圖片和很多其他衛星所拍攝的城鎮照片。甚至連Google Maps沒有提供的圖片都有。因此也为google公司惹来不少麻烦和官司。

这里的“清晰度”衡量的标准是观察到离地面最近且图像最清晰时所显示的“Eye alt”数值。

• 大多数地区的图像清晰度都在5 英里左右。
• 几乎每个国家的首都和主要大城市都提供了较为清晰的图像，基本拥有0.15 英里的清晰度。
• 北美和欧洲的高清晰图像比较多，其他地区相比较少。

• 地表：在开启了“Terrain”效果的情况下可以观察到以3D方式显示的高原、山地等地形。
• 海床：不可用（海床已在地球球面“印”好）。

Google Earth不能在配備較低的计算机上使用。下面的數據是軟件所需的最低配置：
